"Dog Walker" is an experiment in soft sculpture. The figure's head and the lower parts of her legs and arms, as well as the little dog, are clay. The body is made of soft fabric, and her hair comes straight from a neighbor's sheep here in Vermont. I hand-sewed her clothes out of pure cotton. Because she is articulated at the elbows, knees and waist, she may be posed as desired. She is supported by a hidden metal stand which fits onto a base of painted clay, but she and the dog may be removed from the base altogether. (Scroll down to see close-ups.) |
